Character Creation Work Flow Step 1: Choose a Concept Take a moment to think about who your character is. Where did he or she come from? What does he or she do? How does the character feel about the Alliance, the Browncoats, and War of Unification? The Basics Starting Character Points (CP): 50 CP Character Sheets, both in Excell and PDF formats are available in the Downloads page. Step 2: Choose Attributes The Primary Attributes: There are five attributes in Ji Dian Station, rated 0 to 5. A character with 0 in an attribute cannot use any skills under it. For example, someone with Vigor of 0 should not go carousing. The attributes are: - Might (MT) - Represents physical strength and body mass
- Agility (AG) - The manual dexterity of the character
- Smarts (SM) - The character's intelligence
- Vigor (VG) - The healthiness of your character
- Resolve (RS) - The raw force of will your character exhibits
Attributes cost 2 character points per level. A Might of 1 will cost you 2 CP and a Might of 5 will cost you 10 CP. Step 3: Choose Boons and Hitches Boons: Boons are listed in the House Rules. The Boons are listed in the following manner: Boon (cost) Boons, like Advantages in Steve Jackson Games' GURPS, Merits in the Story Teller System from White Wolf, give your character some benefit over the common individual. Hitches: Hitches are the opposite of Boons, making life a little more "interesting" for the character. In some fashion, a Hitch will limit your character's options. For this reason, while most people consider Truthfulness to be a virtue, being unable to tell a lie could be a very bad thing in the wrong situation. Hitches are listed in the House Rules like Boons. Skills: Skills that your character has trained in are rated from 1 to 5 and are 1 CP per level and are added to the controlling attribute for the Skill to determine Roll value of the skill. The Roll value is added to the Action Die in any contest of skill. Relative Skill Roll Comparisons (How good are ya?) Your Skill Roll is typically Attribute + Skill. | 1......... Inept | 6......... Average | | 2......... Poorly Trained | 7......... Skilled | | 3......... Apprentice | 8......... Experienced | | 4......... Capable | 9......... Expert | | 5......... Journeyman | 10....... Master |
Skills are grouped by their Controlling Attribute (Might, Agility, etc).
